Nepenthes bicalcarata can be distinguishes from any other
species by the two thorns projecting downwards from the lid. These thorns are part
of the peristome.
Nepenthes bicalcarata is primarily found in peat swamp forests.
The altitudinal
distribution ranges from sea level to about 950 metres. N. bicalcarata
is only found in north-western Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei).
N. bicalcarata is know to hybridise with:
x ampullaria, x gracilis, x mirabilis, x rafflesiana.
